Singing insults?

Collage:  Too cool to have fun

(Art work on this blog is copyrighted.)

For your wedding – tell the truth, now – did your mother and mother-in-law sing insults at each other in Ladino?

What stopped them?

Or a tune?

Did they not know it was traditional?

Or did English crimp the warm-hearted jesting that Ladino flourishes in?

Or is American culture just too cool for such bond-creating silliness?
